Ready & Fast-to-go. The activity of the Esautomotion Cutting Applications team
Esautomotion is a modernly organized company to deal reactively and efficiently with an extremely dynamic market such as that of CNC.
CNC for cutting: the DNA of Esautomotion.
Cutting is the product area on which Esautomotion has built its history and success, maturing over time a level of competence and expertise of absolute excellence. This leadership is expressed, among others, in highly specialized sectors such as sheet metal, marble and wood cutting, in which Esautomotion is the absolute reference company thanks to thirty years of collaboration with all major OEMs.
How the Cutting Applications team works.
Being a high tech company, the technical departments represent the fundamental backbone of Esautomotion. They are structured by product mission (cutting, bending, etc.) and cover all areas in a verticalized and integrated way, from design to implementation of control systems at the OEM customer: this allows both to coordinate the progress of various projects and to guarantee the absolute constancy of quality.
Turn-key CNCs: the Esautomotion solution that eliminated start up times.
Unique in the market, all Esautomotion CNCs are supplied “turnkey”: the company develops all the software internally and supplies them already installed in the CNC, which is thus immediately operational. The great advantage for the customer is not having to take care of the development of the application part, saving time and costs, while at the same time maintaining a very high possibility of customizing the software itself, both at the PLC and HMI level.
“The” turnkey “is the basis of our success, because it differentiates us from all the other players in the sector” – underlines Matteo Mudoni, head of the Applications department – “To make it possible we have developed an architectural skeleton that is both performing and flexible. , which allows us to adapt and customize the software in a relatively short time according to the type of cutting technology, the single machine and the needs of the individual customer. A further important advantage of this solution is the elimination of any operating problems or software compatibility with the CNC “.
It is a solution particularly appreciated by small / medium-sized OEMs, who rarely have the resources and / or technical skills to develop the software internally, whose development is contracted out to external software houses.
“Obviously, to maintain this distinctive asset we must engage in constant scouting and updating on the technological innovations of the market” – adds Matteo Mudoni – “We therefore work in very close partnership with our customers to promptly learn about new developments and features introduced. on their machines, in order to develop and update our software. The dialogue between us and the customer’s technical departments is two-way: we often act as real consultants, suggesting the system solutions and components that best integrate with the operation of the CNC “.
The procedure adopted by the Cutting Applications team for the development of a control system normally includes a series of well-defined steps, such as:
- meeting with the managers of the customer’s technical department to define specific needs and objectives
- internal meeting in Esautomotion with the R&D department to agree on the technical specifications of the CNC
- software customization, usually at the local Esautomotion branch located in the country where the customer is
- start up (or commissioning) of the CNC at the customer once the machine is ready, including complete functional tests
A global structure to be close to customers
The Cutting Applications team is not, as you might think, a centralized structure but is present on all continents.
“For our work, proximity to the customer is fundamental, wherever they are in the world. We need to talk to its technicians and visit its factories to better understand its specific needs and develop tailor-made and effective solutions “- adds Mudoni -” This cannot always happen by telephone or videoconference: every now and then you have to look each other in the eye. . The quality of the personal relationship is no less important than technical competence to create a relationship of mutual trust and understanding “.
To date, the Cutting Applications structure is made up of about twenty engineers who are experts in mechatronics and specialized in the various types of cutting.
The group is distributed in the main direct branches of Esautomotion, according to the following scheme (the geographical areas covered in brackets).
- Headquarters (Italy + Europe): 7 people
- Turkey (Turkey + Middle East): 1 person
- Spain (Spain and Portugal): 4 people
- Brazil (Brazil and South America): 1 person
- China (China + Far East): 4 people
In India, Benelux, Argentina and USA Esautomotion operates through VAR (Value Added Reseller), local hi-tech companies highly qualified in mechatronics. They are entrusted with the work of contact with the customer, customization and commissioning, in close coordination with the central Cutting Application department.
“Here in Carpi, at the Headquarter, we take care of the development of the” master “software while my collaborators at the local branches and the VARs manage the customizations and installations at the customers” – continues Mudoni – “Our natural interlocutor in Esautomotion it is R&D, with which we have a multi-daily dialogue to manage special projects and find answers to the most complex requests coming from the markets “.
“The training activity we carry out at the customer is also very important, once the machine is put into service by our technicians – concludes Mudoni – We not only teach how to use and exploit all the functions of our CNCs but we also transmit information and useful suggestions that are part of a know-how and a wealth of experience formed in over 40 years of Esautomotion activity. This makes us proud and motivates us to give our best every day ”.
